YUBA COUNTY, Calif. - A stretch of Highway 70 in Yuba County remained closed into late Monday night after a tanker truck carrying 8,000 gallons of ethanol and a pick-up truck collided.

According to California Highway Patrol reports, the collision happened about eight miles north of Marysville in the area of Magnolia Road at 6:22 a.m.

The crash caused the tanker to overturn and the pick-up to catch fire.

Firefighters were called and both directions of the highway were blocked due to the wreck.

The propane tanker had to be emptied prior to righting, according to the CHP.

Northbound 70 trafffic was being diverted at Woodruff and southbound traffic at Ramirez. There was also a diversion from southbound 70 to westbound  E. Gridley to Highway 99 to alleviate the back-up.

The CHP said injuries were minor.

As of 10:30 p.m., authorities said they should have the highway reopened within half an hour.
