1 arrested, 2nd suspect wanted in Citrus Heights murder

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA - Police have arrested one man and were looking for a second in the Jan. 5 killing of Jack Swaim.

Andrew Les Johnson, 28, is wanted for fatally stabbing Swaim that Saturday, according to Citrus Heights police Sgt. Eric Mattke.

This past Saturday, Jan. 12, an arrest warrant in the case was served at 9 p.m. Saturday for 27-year-old Jeffrey Douglas Powell on the 7700 block of Wintergreen Drive, said police Sgt. Bryan Fritsch.

Powell was arrested on homicide charges and booked into Sacramento County Jail.

Swaim was found unconscious outside of a home on the 6300 block of Stonehand Avenue around 6:28 a.m. He was transported to a hospital where he later died. Initial reports did not identify how Swaim died.

Mattke said the victim was stabbed multiple times with an unknown object.

The motive behind the crime was unclear.
