SACRAMENTO, CA - The son of the second victim who was shot and killed in Old Sacramento on New Year's Eve said the fight started over a spilled drink.
Garbriel Cordova, 35, of North Highlands was shot and killed after he got into a fight with suspected gunman Carlito Montoya, 22, Sacramento police said.
Cordova was inside of the Sport Corner Café bar to celebrate on New Year's Eve.
"They just went out to have fun, come back and barbeque with the family and everything and some idiot with a gun came out," Cordova's son Isaiah Cordova said.
Cordova said the fight started after a woman bumped into his dad, spilling her drink. He said his father apologized, but it did not work.
"That's what set everything off," Cordova said. "She went and got her buddies and that's how it all went down."
The 18 year old said his father was a fun-loving man who was a Raiders fan.
"He was the best thing that ever happened to me," Cordova said. "He was like my best friend."
Police said Garbriel Cordova's wife Christina was also shot. Family members said she was expected to survive.
Police said their investigation will be handed over to the district attorney's office for review and charges.
