TURLOCK - The man believed to be the shooter in the killing of a man on Saturday night was arrested by police one day later.
At about 9:15 p.m. on Saturday the Turlock Police Department received a call of shots fired in the 800 block of South Ave. When officers arrived they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim, who has been identified as 35-year-old David Hernandez, was transported to a local hospital but later died.
The suspect had already fled the area by the time officers arrived on scene.
On Sunday, officers made a traffic stop in the 1200 block of N. Olive Ave. and the driver was identified as the suspect in the Saturday night South Ave. shooting.
The driver, 20 year old Ernesto Negrete, was taken into police custody at the scene for murder as well as possession of methamphetamine.
