SACRAMENTO, CA - A man originally suspected to be a prowler by a Sacramento woman, turned out to be her ex-boyfriend breaking into her home Monday night, Sacramento police say.

According to Sacramento police, officers responded to the home on the 2400 block of Connie Drive around 7 p.m. after 54-year-old Paul Garduno allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's home and held her against her will.

The woman was able to escape the home unharmed, but Garduno, a parolee-at-large, remained inside and refused to come out, police said.

Neighboring homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure and the stretch of Connie Dr. between Silican Ave. and El Camino Ave. was blocked off.

Additional police and SWAT units were then dispatched to the scene and Garduno eventually surrendered without incident at approximately 11:40 p.m.

He was arrested and booked into county jail on parole violation, resisting arrest and false imprisonment, police said
