KINGVALE, CA - A man was killed Monday morning when his Dodge Ram pick-up truck overturned and went down an embankment near the eastbound Kingvale offramp on Interstate 80.
According to California Highway Patrol reports, the 44-year-old driver, identifed as Edwin Schuler, was driving east of Kingvale around 8 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the truck and veered left onto the median shoulder. He abruptly overcorrected to the right, causing the pick-up to fishtail first right then left, before rolling over down the median embankment. The truck cab was crushed.
Truckee fire responders arrived at approximately 8:22 a.m. and pronounced Schuler dead.
Schuler was from Modesto.
The involved pick-up was a gold-colored, 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 model.
The CHP said the collision was still under investigation, but alcohol had been ruled out as a contributing factor.
Any witnesses were encouraged to contact the CHP in Truckee at (530) 582-7570.
