FAIRFIELD, Calif. - A 23-year-old Vacaville man was arrested on charges of felony hit and run in connection with the discovery of a body along Peabody Road Wednesday morning.
The California Highway Patrol identified the suspect as Alex Perez; evidence at the scene led them to his vehicle.
According to Talafili Sala, his 26-year-old brother Moses Sala was attempting to walk to his father's house in Vacaville when he was struck by the car sometime in the middle of the night. He was making the journey on foot because his own car was out of commission.
"You know, we just thought it would be another day," said Sala, as the family was expecting his brother to arrive to help take care of their father who is partially paralyzed. "And I get a call at 10:30 this morning saying my brother is gone."
Moses Sala had recently graduated from Phoenix College to become a correctional officer.
"He's an excellent father, loves his son," Sala said. "He doesn't deserve this. He (and his wife Tiffany) have a daughter on the way."
