CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA - Four days of ground and aerial searches have not turned up any sign of a missing couple who left Citrus Heights last Thursday for Gardnerville, Nevada.

Roderick Paul Clifton, 44, of Citrus Heights/Gardnerville and Paula Lane, 46, of Gardnerville, were reported missing by relatives when they didn't answer their cellphones and Paula Lane didn't meet her mother for dinner in Gardnerville that night, according to Citrus Heights Police Department Det. Sgt. Lee Harrington.

Considering the stormy weather and the couple's usual route from Highway 50 to Highway 89 to Highway 88 in the Sierra, police classified the missing couple as at-risk and notified California and Nevada law enforcement.

Over the weekend, Herrington said searchers with the El Dorado, Alpine County and Douglas County (Nevada)  sheriff's departments, the California Highway Patrol and relatives and friends of the couple retraced the route. Monday, the CHP flew a helicopter over El Dorado and Alpine counties to look for Clifton and Lane. Searchers also used a snowmobile to look along roads closed by snow.

Herrington said no sign of the pair was found and there doesn't appear to have been activity on their credit cards and cellphones.

Tuesday, searchers with seven law enforcement agencies were looking for the couple again without success.

"Just everyone out there trying to find my dad," said Codie Clifton, the missing man's daughter. "Everyone coming together. I really appreciate it."

Another daughter, Mariah Clifton, said she had been so busy with school she hadn't talked with her dad since before Thanksgiving and didn't know he was missing until she saw a Facebook posting.

Roderick Clifton and Lane were driving a dark blue, 1989 Jeep Cherokee, California license plate number 4VPB789.

Family suspects something happened to them on their drive.

Law enforcement may seek a court order Wednesday to track the couple's cellphone activity to learn if they've been used.

Authorities said they do not think the couple met with foul play.

Anyone with information about Clifton and Paul was urged to contact Citrus Heights police dispatchers at (916) 727-5500.
