TRACY, CA - The city of Tracy has something to look forward in the coming year: an expected 1,000 jobs at a new Amazon plant.
Tracy Mayor Brent Ives says the deal was finalized Friday. He described the jobs as "higher end' because Amazon recently bought a robotics company and employees will have to be trained to use the robotics at the new plant.
Besides the expected economic boost of more jobs, Ives said Tracy coffers will receive sales tax revenue from goods shipped from the center.
The facility will be located in the northeast industrial sector of Tracy. Ives said plans are to have the center opened by the 2013 Christmas holiday season.
