SACRAMENTO, CA - The third seeded Elk Grove Thundering Herd will host the fifteenth seeded Del Oro Golden Eagles for the San-Joaquin Section Division Two Semi-Finals on Friday night.

Last season, the Thundering Herd made it to the Semi-Finals, ultimately losing to Folsom. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles won the Sac-Joaquin Section Division Two title last year, but lost to Helix in the Division Two State championship game.

This season, Del Oro had a very rough start, losing their first four games. However, they rebounded and turned the season around with an undefeated record for the remainder of the season.

Now Del Oro eyes the Section D-II title once again for a chance to head at the state championship game this season. The Golden Eagles have a fairly even offensive effort on the field, averaging 132 passing yards and 189 rushing yards per game. Del Oro senior running back, Brandon Monroe leads the team with 14 touchdowns and 1,339 total rushing yards for the season. On the defensive end, Del Oro has totaled 628 tackles along with 28 sacks.

On the other side of the field, the Elk Grove Thundering Herd look to unplug Del Oro's second-chance season, with a very rush heavy offense. The Thundering Herd average only 76 passing yards per game, however net around 328 rushing yards. Senior running back, Robert Grazier leads the pack with 1,969 total rushing yards for the season, along with 21 touchdowns.

Elk Grove has only allowed one loss this season to local rival Franklin. Their defense has resulted in three shut-out wins this season, with not one point scored by the apposing team. Additionally, they have 733 total tackles per game, along with 17 sacks.
