VALLEJO, CA - A 14-year-old Vallejo boy is facing multiple charges after allegedly committing a heinous act against a 65-year-old woman on Thursday.
A Vallejo Police Department release stated officers were dispatched to the area of Hiddenbrooke Parkway and Highway 80 at approximately 6:02 p.m. after passersby noticed a woman in distress. Upon arrival, officers found an elderly woman duct taped and sufferering from apparent "egregious physical and sexual assault."
According to police, the woman was transported to a local hospital where detectives determined she had been kidnapped at gunpoint from in front of a local business on the 100 block of Plaza Drive in Vallejo. The woman was then allegedly driven by her captor to a location several miles from where she was abducted, bound and assaulted, and then left unconscious in a ditch as her assailant drove away in the woman's minivan.
Witnesses who spotted the woman and contacted police were able to provide sufficient information during the subsequent investigation to help police identify the woman's suspected attacker.
As Vallejo police were developing leads in the case, the victim's family was contacted via telephone by the suspected attacker who demanded money in exchange for her return, said police.
Detectives eventually located and arrested the suspect when he returned to the area in the woman's van. He was found in possession of the woman's property and a replica handgun, said police.
The individual was identified as a 14-year-old Vallejo resident. He was booked into Solano County Juvenile Hall on multiple charges, including attempted murder, carjacking, armed robbery, and kidnapping for ransom.
His identity was withheld.
