NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA - A bicyclist was hit and killed by a car on Watt Avenue in North Highlands Tuesday morning.
According to Sergeant Gooch of the California Highway Patrol, the cyclist, a man in his 40's, was on Watt just north of Plymouth Ave. around 12:45 a.m. when he was hit by a woman driving a car.
The 33-year-old woman did not see the man in the road until the last minute when she struck him, said Gooch.
It was unknown whether the man had crashed his bike prior to being hit by the vehicle, Gooch said.
CHP officers arrived at the scene and found the man laying in the lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman was not suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Gooch said.
The CHP was waiting on the coroner's report to determine whether the cyclist had sustained an injury prior to those sustained in the vehicle collision.
