Grigoriy Bukhantsov arrested in connection with Rancho Cordova triple homicide on De Soto Way.

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA - A man was arrested Wednesday morning in connection to the murder of a mom and two of her children in their Rancho Cordova home Tuesday afternoon.

Grigoriy Bukhantsov, 19, was arrested around 9:11 a.m. inside a Rocklin Denny's restaurant after officers spotted the family mini-van in the parking lot, Sacramento County sheriff's Sgt. Jason Ramos said.

Denis Bukhantsov, came home Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. to find his wife and two children dead inside of their home on the 10000 block of De Soto Way. He ran to a neighbors home to call for help.

When Rancho Cordova police officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman and two young children dead. As they worked through the scene, they heard a baby crying somewhere else in the home. Ramos said a 6-month-old boy was found in a crib unharmed.

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office identified the three victims as Alina Bukhantsov, 23; Emmanuela Bukhantsov, 3; Avenir Bukhantsov, 2. Each of the victims suffered injuries consistent with sharp force trauma.

"It appeared that there had been a violent encounter, as evidenced by extensive trauma to each of the victims," Ramos said in a statement.

During the investigation, police found that the family's mini-van, a white Town and Country, was missing. Ramos said an alert was sent out to law enforcement to be on the lookout for the van.

Around 2 a.m. Rocklin police spotted the mini-van in a Denny's parking lot, near Interstate-80 and Rocklin Road, and told the sheriff's department. Inside, deputies found Grigoriy Bukhantsov and detained him without incident, Ramos said.

Grigoriy Bukhantsov was taken to the sheriff's department to be interviewed by deputies. Ramos said Grigoriy Bukhantsov was the woman's brother-in-law and the children's uncle.

As deputies continued to investigate, they found evidence that identified Grigoriy Bukhantsov as a suspect in the murder of all three victims, Ramos said.

According to Bethany Slavic Missionary Church Pastor Stephan Skots, Grigoriy Bukhantsov was known for drug use and wild outbursts. The family was active in the church; Denis Bukhantsov served as a youth pastor there. Skots said Grigoriy Bukhantsov threatened to kill him before and the church also called the police on him multiple times.

"One time, he came to church to see the bishop. He became wild. We called the police," Skots said. "He was saying he was going to kill you, kill everybody. We called the police all the time."

Grigoriy Bukhantsov was booked into Sacramento County Jail for three counts of murder. Ramos said he is ineligible for bail.

According to the sheriff's department, he's now being held in the psychiatric ward in jail for violent behavior.

Grigoriy Bukhantsov was released five months early after serving time in Sacramento County Jail for a burglary conviction.

A memorial fund has been set up by the family member to help pay for memorial services. People can donate to:

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday morning at Bethany Slavic Missionary Church.
