America's Most Wanted fugitive, Zane Mason was arrested in North Highlands on Sunday.
NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA - An America's Most Wanted (AMW) fugitive was arrested on Sunday afternoon after police moved in on him while hiding out in a North Highlands residence.
Fugitive Zane Mason was profiled on the AMW show after being wanted for Second Degree Murder after stabbing Gregory Zeller to death in Arizona on August 22. Mason killed the 51-year-old Zeller in his residence upon breaking into a fight, Deputy U.S. Marshal Frank Newsom said.
According to Newsom, U.S. Marshal investigators from the Arizona WANTED Task Force eventually found out that 29-year-old Mason was hiding out in Sacramento.
Investigators then contacted Sacramento U.S. Marshals to help in the case. At around 1 p.m. on Sunday, investigators got information that Mason was at the 5000 block of Roseville Road in North Highlands.
Shortly after, U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Sac County Sheriff's Office both worked together to survey the area.
At around 4 p.m. Mason walked outside the residence and sat inside the passenger side of a car parked on the street for a period of time before heading back inside the house, Newsom said.
The team of investigators then developed a plan, moved in and surrounded the residence.
Sherriff's deputies called out all the occupants including Mason. After heading outside the residence, Mason was taken into custody without incident.
Mason was booked into to the Sac County Jail and now awaits extraditions back to Arizona.
