DIXON, CA - Just what firefighters dread on a high wind day: A grass fire in dry conditions.
Flames were first reported about 11:40 a.m. in the center divide of Interstate 505 near the Wolfskill Road exchange, according to the Dixon Fire Department. The fire then jumped the freeway and traveled into an orchard, threatening several outbuildings.
Five acres burned but no structures, firefighters said.
Crews controlled the blaze in just under an hour. I's cause was not immediately determined.
