Traffic on northbound I-5 jammed due to pedestrian death.
SACRAMENTO, CA - A crash involving at least one vehicle and a pedestrian brought Interstate 5 in Sacramento to a standstill Tuesday morning.
A California Highway Patrol report stated the pedestrian was struck by three vehicles on the northbound side of the interstate just south of Richards Boulevard at approximately 4:20 a.m.
All lanes were closed on the northbound side of the freeway for about an hour, causing extensive delays for morning commuters. The lanes were reopened around 6:20 a.m. following cleanup efforts.
The report did not indicate why the pedestrian was on the interstate.
The identity of the pedestrian was withheld.
