RIPON, CA - One adult was arrested and a juvenile was turned over to child protective services (CPS) during a probation search at an apartment on the 1550 block of W. Main Street in Ripon on Friday.
Sgt. Steve Merchant with the Ripon Police Dept. said officers conducted the search around 4 p.m. Friday after a special investigation unit detective obtained information that marijuana was being sold from the apartment.
When officers arrived at the apartment, 24-year-old Matthew Zucker of Ripon appeared to be cleaning up after cooking a quantity of brownies laced with pot, said Merchant.
An ensuing investigation of the unit turned up three pounds of brownies, marijuana, marijuana packaging equipment, an electronic scale, additional marijuana paraphernalia, and an undisclosed amount of cash. Additionally, a switchblade knife, police scanner and air rifle were also located in the apartment, Merchant said.
According to Merchant, several individuals showed up at Zucker's apartment while officers were investigating. One of those individuals, a juvenile, was turned over to San Joaquin County CPS as they were deemed to be in danger due to their direct access to the drugs, pot brownies, knife and air rifle.
Zucker was arrested and booked into The San Joaquin County jail on charges of possession of marijuana for sale, child endangerment, and a probation violation.
