NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA - A Rio Linda woman was hit by a car and killed in North Highlands on Sunday night.
Officer Lizz Dutton with the California Highway Patrol said Robyn King, 33, of Rio Linda, was driving her white Mitsubishi Galant southbound on 32nd St. at approximately 35 mph when she struck 42-year-old Tanya Butler of Rio Linda.
According to Dutton, the initial CHP investigation indicated Butler was either walking in the roadway or attempting to cross the road when she was struck.
Butler was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither King, nor her 8-year-old passenger were injured in the collision.
Dutton said the particular location of 32nd St. just north of Freedom Park Dr. is dark with no street lights, and Butler was wearing dark clothing.
A toxicology test was scheduled for Butler to determine if drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor in the collision, said Dutton.
