PLACERVILLE, CA - The missing UC Davis student found dead last Friday along the American River committed suicide, her parents said at a news conference Tuesday morning.
Nineteen-year-old Linnea Lomax was found under a tree by a group of searchers, including her mother, near Sacramento State.
The young woman's father, Craig Lomax, said his daughter hanged herself.
Linnea Lomax was reported missing June 26 after her parents had gone to pick her up from a mental health outpatient facility session on Howe Avenue and learned she had already left. The university freshman had been struggling to cope with final exams, according to her parents. She had been receiving psychiatric help before she disappeared.
