CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA - Several streets in the area of Kanai Avenue and Auburn Boulevard in Citrus Heights were cordoned-off as police investigated what the victim said was a drive-by shooting.
A 20-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and taken to a Carmichael hospital, according to Officer Bryan Fritsch. The windows of the victim's car were shot out.
Witnesses told responding officers they heard multiple gunshots in the area just before 10:18 a.m. and saw a red compact vehicle leave.
Fritsch said investigators don't yet know the reason for the shooting.
Police expected to reopen streets about 1:45 p.m..
