Body found along American River in Glenn Hall Park near Sacramento, Sept. 7, 2012
SACRAMENTO, CA - A UC Davis student, who has been missing since late June, was found dead Friday morning.
Linnea Lomax, 19, was last seen on June 26 leaving an outpatient treatment facility on Howe Avenue.
Volunteers helping the Lomax family look for Linnea came across the decomposing remains in a riparian area of the American River in Glenn Hall Park, near Sacramento State, around 10:18 a.m.
Earlier in the day, law enforcement did not have an identification of the body.
About 11 hours later, family representative Amanda Ernst released a statement that the Lomax Family received confirmation that the body found was that of Linnea Lomax.
The statement also said:
"Arrangements for a Celebration of Life service are being made and details will be made public. No further details or comments are available at this time. The family will schedule a press conference in the coming week. Until then, please respect their privacy during this difficult time.
"The Lomax family extends their thanks to all of you for caring about Linnea and covering her story."
The Sacramento County Coroner's Office said it is still investigating the cause of death; however, foul play does not appear to be a factor at this point of the investigation.
