VALLEJO, CA - A 31-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were found murdered in a Vallejo home on the 1000 block of Atherton Street on Thursday.
Officers were called to the home around 9:18 p.m. after neighbors reported hearing gunshots and then saw two men running southbound from the home moments after the shots were fired, Vallejo police Sgt. Jeff Bassett said.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the man and woman dead inside of the home, said Bassett.
According to Lt. Jim O'Connell, friends of the family have told police that the woman was six months pregnant with twins. With this new insight, detectives are investigating the case as if there are four victims, unless otherwise advised.
The coroner's office still needs to confirm news of the pregnancy, O'Connell said. The names of the deceased were withheld pending notification of family.
A motive for the murders has not been determined yet; however, O'Connell said the family was the intended target of the shooting.
Bassett said Vallejo police detectives continue to investigate the case.
"We are confident that there are those in the community who have critical information regarding this crime," O'Connell said. "We ask anyone with information, no matter how minor they may feel it might be, to contact the Vallejo Police Department."
Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the Vallejo Police Department at 1-800-488-9383.
