Sacramento International Airport welcomes Volaris airlines

SACRAMENTO, CA - The Sacramento International Airport will add its second international airline in November.

Volaris, Mexico's second largest airline will have bi-weekly non-stop flights to Guadalajara, Mexico (GDL) from Sacramento on Nov. 15, airport spokesperson Karen Doron said.

"It is great news that another airline, especially an international one, will be operating out of the new Terminal B," said Sacramento County Supervisor Phil Serna, whose district includes the airport. "This is the first airline to initiate service since the terminal opened. The addition of new airline partners and destinations is a top priority for the County Airport System."

The flight schedule for Volaris flights will be:

SMF to GDL

  • Wednesdays and Fridays
  • Departure: 12:15 a.m.  
  • Arrival: 6:00 a.m.

GDL to SMF:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Departure: 8:35 p.m.
  • Arrival: 11 p.m.

Doron said Volaris will use either the Airbus A319, with a capacity of 141 or the Airbus A300, with a capacity of 172.
