'Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!?' for the Nintendo DS and 3DS.
It's ADVENTURE TIME!
Coming later this year from D3 Publisher and developer WayForward Technologies is Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!?. The title is based upon the Emmy-winning cartoon 'Adventure Time', which is in its fourth season Cartoon Network.
Featuring an original story written by series creator Pendleton Ward and the voice talents of John DiMaggio (Jake the Dog) and Zach Shada (Finn the Human), Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!? offers a gameplay experience inspired by the NES classic The Legend of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.
"That was really a big inspiration for us," said Game Director James Montagna. "The game itself is an action-adventure game with light RPG elements, so as players play through the game they'll have an old-school side view sort of gameplay and they'll be fighting enemies and you'll encounter them on an overworld type of top view/RPG sort of view."
The game's top-down overworld map is where players venture from area to area; whereas the 2D side scrolling section is where not only combat takes place (often times with light platforming elements sprinkled in), but it is also how the player traverses through dungeons and interacts with NPCs within towns.
The game itself is about how series antagonist The Ice King is stealing the garbage of seemingly everybody in the world of Ooo to create his own garbage princess. Being the heroic adventurers they are, Finn and Jake set out on a quest to make things right by preventing The Ice King from succeeding.
"[They] meet lots of familiar faces and fight lots of bosses, collect interesting treasures, and get to The Ice King," explained Montagna. "And that's the whole point of the game."
Designed for fans of the 'Adventure Time' television show ages 6-12, Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!? has been rated "E for Everybody" by the ESRB. The game comes out this Fall for the Nintendo DS and 3DS.
