WEST SACRAMENTO, CA - Raley's grocery chain announced Friday it was closing two more locations.
The stores to be shuttered by mid-October are a Bel Air at 1885 East Gibson Road in Woodland and a Raley's in Pittsburg. Employees will lose their jobs, although some may be able to transfer to other stores based on seniority, said company spokesman John Segale.
The decision to close the two stores was based on projections that future sales would not meet operational costs, Segale said in a news release. He also alluded to the need to negotiate with the employee union to curb costs.
The Aisle 1 Fuel Station at the Woodland Bel Air will remain open.
This is the third round of store closures this year for the West Sacramento-based supermarket chain.
