RIO VISTA, CA - A man was arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing children at a Rio Vista day care center.
Don Elliot, 49, of Rio Vista, is accused of molesting two children who attended the Lots of Tots in-home day care on the 200 block of Tahoe Drive, Solano County sheriff's Lt. Gary Faulkner said.
Lots of Tots was licensed by Community Care Licensing Division of the state health and human services agency. It was run by Elliot's wife and has been licensed for 12 years. Thursday, Lots of Tots' license was revoked. The owners have 15 days to appeal the revocation.
Faulkner said the sheriff's office is looking into the owner of the day care, but no charges have been filed against her.
Elliot was booked into the Solano County Jail for a lewd act upon a child, attempted lewd act upon a child and felony child abuse. Bail was set at $230,000.
Neighbor Mary Lacke was stunned by the news. "It's a little disturbing. I have a teenage daughter. I wasn't even aware there was a day care here, to be honest."
"There's always kids there. Even one of the cops of the kids in town drops kids off at the day care center," said neighbor Jermey Lemmons.
Investigators were checking if there were other victims.
Anyone with information that may help in the police investigation of Lots of Tots was urged to call Solano County Sheriff's Office Investigations Bureau at (707) 784-7050.
