WOODLAND, CA - A Galt private detective was arrested for impersonating an officer Tuesday afternoon.

Woodland police Sgt. Steve Guthrie said Anthony Vegas, 52, was arrested in front of the Yolo County Sheriff's Monroe Detention Center for using his retired California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation ID card as an active officer.

Vegas used to work for the CDCR as a parole officer.  He had a non-state issued badge that IDed Vegas as an active parole officer and a state issued card that IDed him as a retired parole agent. Guthrie said the CDCR badge was covered so people could not see the word "retired" and believed he was on duty.

Vegas is accused of using his ID on several occasions in the last week to get information on a child custody case he was privately investigating.

Guthrie was arrested and then released after being told to appear in court for a misdemeanor violation of impersonating an officer.
