Police: Man disguised as woman robs Stockton bank

STOCKTON, CA - Police suspect a man dressed like a woman robbed a Stockton bank Thursday afternoon.

The suspect, wearing a wig and a hat, entered the Bank of the West on the 1400 block of E. Hammer Lane around 4:30 p.m. and handed the teller a demand note, Stockton police Officer Joe Silva said. 

After the teller gave the suspect an unknown amount of money, the man left the bank and went across the parking lot into Kaiser Mental Health Clinic.

According to Silva, a perimeter was set up around the clinic while officers searched for the suspect, but the suspect was not found.

Witnesses described the suspect as a black man wearing a black and purple hat, a wig, and purple medical clothing, Silva said. He is described as a black man, 30 to 40 years old, 5'6" and weighs about 175 to 180 pounds.
