Turlock police say this marijuana crop was discovered in the yard of a home on the 200 block of Montana Street, Aug. 1, 2012.
TURLOCK, CA - Turlock narcotics police uncovered a nearly mature marijuana crop in a yard surrounded by other homes in a Turlock residential area on Wednesday.
There were 527 pot plants in the one-acre yard of the home on the 200 block of Montana Street, said Officer Mayra Lewis.
The marijuana was being grown with approximately 400 feet of Cunningham Elementary School, officers noted. Even marijuana legally cultivated for medical purposes cannot be grown with 600 feet of a school.
During the warranted search, officers also seized processed pot and equipment used to package the weed for sale, Lewis said.
In the home, officers arrested 31-year-old Michelle Roman Jimenez. She was booked into Stanislaus County Jail on suspicion of marijuana cultivation and possession for sales.
Lewis estimated the street value of the pot at at least $750,000. She said more arrests were expected.
