STOCKTON, CA - Two days after Stockton recorded its 37th and 38th homicides of the year, police officers announced the 39th homicide of 2012 had occurred on Wednesday.

Story: Stockton's 37th and 38th homicides of year occur on same day

Officer Joe Silva said officers were called to the 400 block of Caribrook Way just after midnight Tuesday in response to reports of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old man, later identified as Alexander Mahan, with at least one gunshot wound, Silva said.  First responders pronounced Mahan dead at the scene.

Silva said detectives were investigating the incident, but information was scarce at the early stage of their probe.
