Stockton police investigate 37th, 38th homicide after 2 different shootings

STOCKTON, CA - Two people were shot and killed Monday in separate shootings in Stockton.

The first shooting happened at 2:41 a.m. in a commercial area of Stockton, near Main and Filbert streets. Stockton police said officers found 33-year-old Francisco Hernandez Jr., of Stockton, laying in the street unresponsive, but breathing.

Police said Hernandez was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he died later Monday night.

The second shooting happened at 9:30 p.m. in a residential area in south Stockton, near W. 8 th Street and Turnpike Road, where a man was shot in the back, Lt. Lee Kissell said.

Kissell said the man died at the hospital. He was identified Thursday as Marcos Gloria, 26, of Stockton.

These two shooting deaths bring Stockton's homicide total to 38 for the year.
