Protest at Modesto Chevron over clerk's discriminatory comment to customer in military, July 25, 2012

MODESTO, CA - Approximately 100 people have shown up to express their support of U.S. troops after a gas station clerk's discriminatory comment to a serviceman on Sunday.

The clerk at the Chevron station at 3900 Pelandale Avenue reportedly told Kelly Kjelstrom when he presented a military identification during a purchase, "We don't serve people like you", confirmed a Chevron representative.

Kjelstrom is a reservist in the U.S. Air Fir Force.

News10 was told the incident was captured on store surveillance video but there may not be audio.

Chevron officials have apologized to Kjelstrom and the gas station owner said he has begun re-training his employees so it doesn't happen again.

Many of those gathered at the gas station were displaying posters and flying the American flag in support of troops.
