SACRAMENTO, CA - The Sacramento City Council approved putting a half-cent sales tax increase on the November ballot.

If voters pass the tax in November, it could bring in as much as $30 million and help pay for vital city services.

A survey of 800 people found that 78 percent would support the tax to fund police and 76 percent would support it to fund fire services.

The measure will need 66 percent of the votes to pass.
