SACRAMENTO - Child Protective Services were called to the 2100 block of Meadowview Road in Sacramento on Sunday, following a welfare check by Sacramento police officers.
Police were initially called to the home around 2:57 p.m. in regards to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers entered the home and encountered mouse droppings, cigarettes and food on the floor, and a foul odor permeating throughout the home, said Sacramento Police spokeswoman Michelle Gigante.
Officers contacted CPS who arrived and took the five children living at the property into custody, said Gigante.
The ages and genders of the children were not released.
