Sheriff warns of cop impersonator in Tuolumne County

TUOLUMNE COUNTY, CA - Authorities are alerting the public and asking for information regarding a cop impersonation incident that took place Thursday, July 12, on Highway 108 near the community of Cold Springs.

The Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office reports a woman was on the highway at about 7 in the morning when a man in a car resembling a law enforcement unit pulled her over.

She said the man told her was she driving erratically and detained her for awhile before allowing her to leave.

The woman described the man's car as a black sedan with white doors, red emergency lights under the headlights, and a broken mirror on the driver's side.

She described the fake cop as white, 45 to 55 years old, 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. He had short, blond hair with a receding hairline and blue eyes. He was possibly wearing contact lenses.
