Grace Smith called for help when her mom suffered a seizure in their Dixon home.
DIXON, CA - At first she thought her mom was playing a practical joke a week ago, but it was no laughing matter when 7-year-old Grace realized her mom, Lindsay Smith was in serious trouble.
"She was on the floor and her eyes were up like she was just staring into space," the Dixon third grader said.
The mother and daughter were getting ready to watch a movie when Lindsay was in the bathroom.
"I was brushing my teeth and washing my face and then Grace said she heard a large boom," Lindsay Smith said.
Grace said she thought her mom was having a seizure or a stroke. She ran to a neighbor for help.
A neighbor rushed to Smith's side and called 911.
"The only thing I remember is someone asking me if I was okay," Smith said.
She praised her daughter for her quick action and her composure during a very stressful time.
"I'm so proud of her. I would not have thought about doing the things she did," Smith said. "She got my wallet and cell phone. She locked the door when the paramedics took me to the hospital."
Grace celebrates her 8th birthday in September. She wants to visit the Sacramento Zoo, but she said she wouldn't mind a visit from her favorite singer, Selena Gomez.
Grace wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up.
