Vacaville assault victim dies

VACAVILLE, CA - A 20-year-old Vacaville man found with a grave head injury during a July 4th celebration died Sunday.

Vacaville police say Tyler Grande was reported to be down on the street on the 100 block on Garden Circle just before midnight that Wednesday night. Approximately 200 people had been celebrating the holiday in the street, police learned.

Investigators determined Grande had been struck in the head at least once by a person, a male, on Garden Circle. The assailant was described as white, 6 feet 2 inches tall with a muscular build. He wore light-colored clothing.

Vacaville city spokesman Mark Mazzaferro said Grande died at UC Davis where he had been hospitalized since the attack. 

Fenton's Ice Cream, where the victim worked, and Solano County Crime Stoppers have offered rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the responsible.
