Teen killed in North Highlands shooting

NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA - A Sacramento-area teen was found shot to death in the middle of the roadway.

Deputy Jason Ramos of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department says deputies responded to shots fired at around 8 p..m. near the 4000 block of David Drive in North Higlands.

Deputies found the 17-year old boy unresponsive at the intersection of David Drive and Gay Way.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body, Ramos said.  Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The motive for the shooting was unknown.

Authorities canvassed the neighborhood for any information.

The victim's name has not yet been released.
