FORESTHILL, CA - The winds picked up significantly on Saturday and combined with higher temperatures to cause the Robbers Fire to grow in size.

As of Saturday evening, the blaze had reached 2,400 acres but firefighters had increased containment to 30%. That was positive news considering it was holding steady at 20% since Friday.

Daniel Berlant from CalFire says the Robbers Fire has burned its first home on Saturday but details on the extent of damage and exact location are unknown.

Three outbuildings have also been destroyed by the fire.

170 homes remain threatened and evacuations are in effect for homes off Yankee Jims Canyon and the Shirttail Canyon area, as well as parts of Iowa Hill, Cal Fire Spokesperson Daniel Berlant said.

Fire continues to spread on the East and North sides of the fire threatening Brushy Creek Subdivision, Haynes Mine and Kings Hill.  Resources have been assigned to structure defense in the threatened areas.

Numbers as of now: 1,952 personnel, 170 engines, 59 crews, 15 helicopters, 36 bulldozers, and 20 water tenders, reported Berlant.

The Red Cross moved the Evacuation Center to the Foresthill High School Gym Friday.

Animal Shelter is located at the Pleasant Street entrance of the Gold Country Fairgrounds.
