RANCHO CORDOVA, CA - Sacramento Metro fire crews were called 9800 Fite Circle in Rancho Cordova Friday morning in response to a fire at a warehouse belonging to a linen-dying company.

According to Asst. Fire Chief Darren Taylor, multiple units arrived on scene and began efforts to contain the fire around 3:30 a.m.

"The main difficulty with a fire like this is that it's a large building, which means you need longer lines to access," said Taylor.

Also troublesome were the piles of linen amassed inside the warehouse, making it difficult for firefighters to navigate swiftly through the building, and adding fuel to the fire, said Taylor.

Furthermore, firefighters have been battling a lack of substantial rest.  With many responders out of town assisting with wildfires, local firefighters have been pulled in on mandatory overtime to cover, Taylor said.

Despite the obstacles, crews were eventually able to extinguish the fire just after 5 a.m. with no injuries incurred by fire personnel or civilians.
