PLACER COUNTY, CA - The Robbers Fire remained very active in its third day, burning up to Brushy Creek in the Yankee Jims area and on its northeast side south of Iowa Hill, said CalFire spokesman Daniel Berlant.

The wildfire burning near Foresthill grew from 800 acres to 1,157 acres overnight and CalFire reduced their containment from 20 percent to 10 percent.

Additional crews were deployed to the fire Thursday, with 1,368 firefighters now combating the blaze.

According to CalFire reports, crews were able to keep the fire out of the north fork of the American River Canyon, but the fire changed direction overnight, prompting the evacuation of 30 additional homes in the small community of Yankee Jim.

The total number of homes evacuated to date stands at 150 with approximately 300 people forced out of their homes, per CalFire.

The shelter for those evacuated residents was moved Friday to Foresthill High School Friday.
