An American group of personal watercraft adventurers who somehow ended up on a Russian military base and were detained for several days will be released.
One of the men is from the Sacramento area. He is a member of a five-man group who tape their adventures in the waters off Alaska and beyond for their "Dangerous Waters" reality show.
News10 was told the group was crossing the Bering Sea and beached on land patrolled by the Russian military. Annette Moll, the wife of the local man, said the men were held in a gymnasium for several days but allowed to keep their cell phones.
The office of a local Congressman, Rep. Dan Lungren, R-Gold River, interceded and the men's release was announced late Tuesday afternoon.
The group says they will wait for choppy seas to calm before heading back to Alaska to regroup.
