Police investigate homicide near El Camino Ave. in north Sacramento.
SACRAMENTO - A welfare check turned into a homicide investigation and SWAT standoff in North Sacramento Tuesday morning.
According to Sacramento police spokeswoman Officer Michelle Gigante, a call of shots fired with someone running from the area was received around 1:30 a.m.

About a half hour later, a passerby called police, informing them of a man down in an alleyway near Redwood Avenue and Cantalier Street, Gigante said.
Upon arrival, officers found a 19-year-old man who had been shot multiple times in the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A short time later, officers conducted an investigation at multi-residential building on the 600 block of W. El Camino Avenue where witnesses reported seeing several individuals run into moments after the shooting. Police and SWAT officers surrounded the building. Shortly before noon, several people inside were removed, detained and questioned by police.
No arrests have been made. Detectives were working to determine the motive for the shooting.
