SACRAMENTO - The Sacramento City Fire and Police Departments were called to the area of Sunrise Drive and Rock Creek Way in south Sacramento Tuesday morning in response to a city worker being attacked by a man with a hatchet.

City workers on scene claim they were repairing a faulty photo cell in a streetlight when the man with the hatchet allegedly attacked them in their pickup truck.

Senior maintenance worker Paula Sorensen said the hatchet smashed the window of the truck, causing cuts to her face and arm.

The suspected attacker told Sorensen, "there's more where that came from," then fled into a home on Stallings Dr.

Police believe the alleged attacker exited the home on Stallings and barricaded himself in another nearby home.

Police secured the area around 9:54 a.m. and were attempting to locate the man.

The man's father, who arrived at the scene shortly thereafter, said his son suffers from schizophrenia.
