Sacramento County deputies arrest man suspected of killing his brother

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA - A fight between brothers escalated into shooting Monday evening.

A neighbor called Sacramento County deputies around 4:36 p.m. to report a fight between two brothers at a home on the 2500 block of Warrego Way, Deputy Jason Ramos said.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they detained a man in his 30s, who was pacing back and forth and acting very animated, in the driveway.

Inside, deputies found a man in his 40s dead and also recovered a handgun at the scene.

According to Ramos, a preliminary investigation revealed the man initially detained was the victim's brother, and was responsible for the shooting. Homicide detective were then called to the scene to investigate. The detained individual was taken to another location to be interviewed further.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, said Ramos.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office following notification to next of kin.
