SOLANO COUNTY - A bird on a wire is believed to be the cause of a grass fire in Solano County.

Fire Investigators say a bird on an electrical wire caused sparks which charred the pole and ignited a fire.

It happened at Pleasants Valley Rd and Vaca Valley Rd around 6:30 on Saturday night and went to a 4th alarm at about 6:45 p.m.

Crews were concerned about strong winds carrying the flames toward a nearby ranch house.

Crews stayed on scene for much of the evening to keep an eye on hot spots.

About 5 acres burned. Firefighters brought it under control in 45 minutes.
