CLEARLAKE, Calif. (AP) -- One of two men tried in connection with a shooting at a backyard barbecue in Lake County that killed a 4-year-old boy and wounded five others has been convicted.
A jury found Orlando Lopez, 24, guilty on Friday of one count of murder, five counts of attempted murder and other charges.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 7.
Authorities say Lopez and Paul Braden, 22, fired shotguns at people attending the barbecue in Clearlake last June.
Four-year-old Skyler Rapp died. Five adults, including the boy's mother, were wounded.
The shooting was apparently the culmination of a feud between two families.
Lopez's attorney, Stephen Carter, told the Lake County Record-Bee his client intends to appeal.
Jury deliberations in Braden's case are expected to start on Tuesday.
