BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) -- California Highway Patrol officers say four members of a Modesto family are dead after a Father's Day traffic crash near Bakersfield.
Officer Kirk Arnold said two other members of the same family are hospitalized at Kern Medical Center with moderate injuries.
The Kern County sheriff-coroner identified the victims as Estella, Juan, Lino and Yolanda Castillo. They ranged in age from 11 to 65.
Arnold said the family was traveling from Northridge to Modesto around 3 p.m. Sunday when the left rear tire separated and the car veered out control, ran off the road and overturned. One person was ejected.
The crash occurred on Highway 99, north of Pond Road.
