SACRAMENTO, CA - The warmest temperature in Sacramento in 2011 was 102 degrees. On Saturday afternoon the city hit 105 degrees making the day the hottest since August 2010.
According to News10 Meteorologist Ashton Altieri, Sacramento was only a few degrees away from a record on Saturday. The record for June 16 in downtown Sacramento is 108 degrees set in 1985.
Altieri expects similar temperatures for Sunday before cooler weather arrives on Monday with highs in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees in the valley.
The record temperature for Sunday (June 16) in Sacramento is 102 degrees set in 1976 so there is a chance the record could be tied or broken.
It has also been very warm in the mountains on Saturday with highs in the 80s for Blue Canyon and Truckee.
