AMADOR COUNTY, CA - The search for a San Francisco man missing at Lake Camanche in Amador County extended into day two on Monday
A release issued by the Amador County Sheriff's Office indicated that 31-year-old Remigio Munoz Jr. swam out of view of his friends and family in the area of Day Use Point around 11:30 a.m. When Munoz Jr. did not return, his friends and family checked the water, but were unable to find him and reported him missing at approximately 12:43 p.m.
A team of Amador County deputies, East Bay Municipal Utilities District Rangers and a California Department of Fish and Game Warden were deployed to the lake and conducted an extensive search of the grounds. According to the release, Munoz' cell phone, keys and wallet were still at his campsite, but responders were unable to locate Munoz.
An Amador County Sheriff's Marine Unit, a Calaveras County Sheriff's Marine Unit and a Sacramento Police Department Helicopter were then called out to search of the waterway around Day Use Point. The Amador County Sheriff's Dive Team also responded to the scene and conducted an underwater search.
The search was suspended Monday night and resumed on Tuesday with the dive team targeting previously unsearched areas, according to the release.
